With just five days to go for Navratri starting September 22, Ahmedabad Fire Department has received only nine applications for fire safety certificates from garba organisers.
As per new rules, organisers must file an online application, submit a hard copy at Jamalpur Fire Station at least three days before the event, and sign a ₹300 bond to follow the 32-point Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
Chief Fire Officer Amit Dongre said nine applications were filed online till Monday evening (Sept 15). Fire teams will now carry out site inspections, and certificates will be issued only after compliance with the SOP.
Besides fire clearance, organisers also need approvals from the police, traffic department, and municipal corporation. With limited time left, securing all permissions could be tough for many organisers.
