A sudden blast at Amul Dairy’s biogas plant on Thursday sparked panic, leaving several workers and officials injured. The injured were rushed to hospital for treatment.
The explosion occurred near the effluent treatment plant (ETP) during welding work, and its sound was heard across the premises. Initial reports suggest more than five people were hurt, though Amul Dairy has not issued an official statement yet.
The incident took place even as votes were being counted for the Dairy’s board of directors’ election. Several political leaders were present on the campus when the blast happened.
