Filmmaker Vivek Agnihotri has returned with The Bengal Files, the third installment in his Files Trilogy after The Tashkent Files and The Kashmir Files. The film, which released in theatres on September 5, takes on one of the darkest chapters of pre-independence India, highlighting events like Direct Action Day, the 1946 Calcutta Killings, and the Noakhali riots.
Featuring Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi, the movie blends historical events with contemporary narratives—juxtaposing a corruption probe with reflections on communal violence that paved the way to Partition.
OTT Release Details
According to official announcements, The Bengal Files will stream on ZEE5 after its theatrical run, following the same route as Agnihotri’s previous films. While the exact date hasn’t been confirmed, most big releases land on OTT within six to eight weeks of their cinema debut.
Based on this trend, fans can expect The Bengal Files to arrive on ZEE5 between late October and early November 2025.
