The admission process for non-professional courses under the Gujarat Common Admission Services (GCAS) has slowed down after shifting to an online, centralised system.
According to a media report, data analysis shows that around 4,400 students remain without admission despite several rounds. The main reason: a mismatch between their scores and the cut-off marks of the colleges they selected.
“Many students filled choices without considering their actual scores and the colleges’ cut-offs. Their low marks do not match their preferred colleges, leaving them without admission,” a GCAS official said. The confusion has also led to the false impression that a technical glitch is blocking admissions.
To address this, GCAS has decided to step in with a more personal approach. After consultations with universities, officials announced that dedicated teams will now reach out to students directly—sending messages and making calls to guide them through the process and help improve admission numbers.
