Two workers were killed and at least 25 others injured after a drum washer machine exploded at Santosh Textile Mill in Surat’s Palsana taluka on Monday afternoon, sparking a massive fire.The blast occurred while workers were on duty, toppling oil-filled plastic drums and igniting large quantities of cloth, which quickly spread the flames and trapped many inside.Fire brigades from Surat city, Bardoli, and nearby areas, along with police teams, rushed to the site to rescue workers and douse the blaze.Officials said five of the injured are in critical condition. The exact cause of the incident will be confirmed after the fire is fully brought under control, though preliminary reports suggest the explosion of the drum washer triggered the tragedy.
