The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has warned of strong protests if Gujarat University (GU) does not withdraw its revised PhD fee structure.
According to a media report, NSUI the varsity recently informed students that the PhD semester fee for regular candidates has been increased from ₹7,900 to ₹12,400, along with a ₹1,000 registration fee for the first semester.
Student leaders said the hike—57% higher than last year—has caused distress among aspirants.NSUI leader Vikram Gohil alleged that the fee hike is “anti-student” and accused the university of misusing funds.
“If the hike is not rolled back immediately, we will launch a fierce agitation,” he warned.GU registrar Piyush Patel was unavailable for comment.
