Days after the District Education Officer (DEO) ordered termination of senior staff at Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) School in Khokhra, the management has removed principal G. Immanuel and appointed Robinson Undrasi in his place, city DEO Rohit Chaudhari confirmed.
However, the school has still not submitted six of the 16 crucial documents sought by the DEO. These include a reply on why its No-Objection Certificate (NOC) should not be cancelled, minority certificates, primary school maps, and proof of land lease from the AMC. “The school is trying to buy more time. They have now asked for an extension till Monday,” Chaudhari said.
Admissions take a hit
Since the fatal stabbing of a Class 10 student by a Class 8 student earlier this month, over 160 students have withdrawn their admissions. The DEO’s office has deployed four officials at the school to process school-leaving certificates and assist parents.
Chaubhari said more than 250 other parents have also enquired about transfers to nearby schools. “Queries about withdrawal keep pouring in,” he added.
The school has been accused of negligence in handling the incident, especially in rushing the victim to hospital. The tragedy sparked massive protests, with many parents demanding the school’s closure.
