Breakthrough research by Ahmedabad-based onco-gynaec surgeon Dr. Dipak Limbachiya on minimally invasive techniques for complex gynaecological and cancer conditions has been featured in leading international journals.His first study, published in the Journal of the Society of Laparoscopic & Robotic Surgeons (SLS), focused on bowel endometriosis — a condition affecting nearly one-third of women with severe endometriosis.
Evaluating a single-stapler laparoscopic resection and anastomosis technique in 17 patients, the study highlighted clear margins, no need for diversion stomas, smoother recovery, and significant relief from symptoms like painful menstruation, intercourse, and bowel movements.A second study, featured in Science Direct, examined the role of intra-operative frozen section (IFS) in endometrial cancer surgeries.
Conducted on 100 patients, it reported a 97% accuracy compared to final pathology, establishing IFS as a vital tool for guiding surgical decisions and avoiding unnecessary interventions.Dr. Limbachiya, founder of Eva Women’s Hospital, said the studies reflect years of research aimed at improving outcomes for women. “The focus is on safe, minimally invasive techniques that ensure faster recovery,” he added.
