Adani Sportsline-owned Gujarat Giants on Tuesday unveiled their new jersey and announced Iranian star Mohammadreza Shadloui as captain for the upcoming Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12. The launch event took place in Ahmedabad in the presence of Head Coach Jairvir Sharma, Assistant Coach Varinder Singh Sandhu, and Adani Sportsline Chief Business Officer Sanjay Adesara.
According to a media report, PKL 12 begins on August 29 in Vizag, with Gujarat Giants starting their campaign against U Mumba on August 30 at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium. The team will play 18 league-stage matches this season.
The Giants made headlines at this year’s auction by signing Shadloui for 2.23 crore—the highest bid of the season. A two-time PKL champion, reigning MVP, and multiple-time Best Defender, Shadloui is expected to add both defensive strength and leadership to the youthful squad.
Accepting the captaincy, Shadloui said, “I am proud to lead Gujarat Giants. With a young and energetic squad, we are ready for the season ahead. I thank Adani Sportsline and our coaches for their trust, and we will give our best.”
Head Coach Jairvir Sharma, making his PKL debut after three decades of coaching experience, expressed confidence in the team’s preparation. “Our pre-season camp in Bengaluru has gone well. The players are motivated, and we aim to bring the title back to Ahmedabad,” he said.
Assistant Coach Varinder Singh Sandhu added, “This will also be my first PKL season. The team has trained intensively and is fully prepared to deliver consistent performances.”
Sanjay Adesara, Chief Business Officer, Adani Sportsline, emphasized the team’s vision: “Our goal is to give fans a world-class kabaddi experience. With a young squad, strong leadership, and experienced coaches, we are confident Gujarat Giants will put in a giant performance this season.”
