Following the killing of a Class 10 student outside Ahmedabad’s Seventh Day Adventist School in Khokhra, the city Crime Branch has officially taken charge of the investigation. The move comes after demands from the victim’s family.
Two Accused Detained
Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sharad Singhal confirmed that two individuals, including a minor, have been detained in connection with the murder. The Crime Branch has also seized the weapon used in the crime. Another adult has been accused of aiding the minor.
The victim’s family has alleged that as many as seven minors were involved in the attack. The Crime Branch has said these claims will be examined during the probe.
Investigation into Vandalism
The Crime Branch will also investigate those responsible for the vandalism inside the school premises, while the local police will look into how the violence unfolded despite security presence.
Tension in Khokhra
The incident sparked large-scale violence in Khokhra today. What began as protests by parents and community members escalated into vandalism and assaults inside the school, prompting police to resort to a lathi-charge to control the situation.
