Unhappy with the school’s reply to a show-cause notice, City District Education Officer (DEO) Rohit Chaudhari on Thursday imposed penalties on Diwan Ballubhai Primary School.
According to a media report, the management of both its English and Gujarati medium sections has been asked to pay a fine of ₹10,000, while a day’s salary will be deducted from the protesting teachers, Chaudhari said.
On Tuesday, the teachers had staged a dharna on the school campus during working hours to demand a salary hike. The protest, held without prior notice, disrupted classes for students of Classes 1 to 8, who said they were instead asked to watch educational programmes on television during that time.
