In a major action against food adulteration, Gujarat’s Food and Drugs Department (FDA) raided Divine Food factory in Vijapur, Mehsana, for making fake paneer using palmolein oil instead of milk and industrial-grade acetic acid.
The unit, owned by Shaileshkumar Kantilal Patel, allegedly sold the counterfeit paneer at ₹200 per kg—half the price of real paneer—to cities like Ahmedabad. Officials seized 649 kg of adulterated paneer and 238 kg of palmolein oil worth ₹1.61 lakh. Samples have been sent for testing, and further action will follow once the lab report is ready. The FSSAI stressed its commitment to food safety and public health.
