The Ahmedabad Zone Fee Regulation Committee has imposed a fine of ₹5 lakh each on four city-based schools for collecting pre-primary fees without the committee’s approval.
The penalised schools are:
- Gems Genesis International School (GGIS)
- Shiv Ashish School
- Tulip International School
- Vedant International School
The committee issued notices to these schools after discovering they were charging parents fees for pre-primary education without mandatory approval—a clear violation of the regulations.
As per the rules, schools must obtain approval from the fee committee before collecting fees for pre-primary classes. However, investigations revealed that many schools were flouting this norm and charging exorbitant fees.
After holding hearings, the committee found the explanations provided by the schools to be unsatisfactory and rejected them. The schools have now been instructed to pay the penalty within 15 days.
The action comes as part of the committee’s efforts to enforce transparency and curb unjustified fee hikes in private schools.
