The West Zone squad for the upcoming Duleep Trophy was announced on Friday, with four players from the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) — Aarya Desai, Manan Hingrajia, Jaymeet Patel, and Arzan Nagwaswalla — making it to the 15-member team.
According to a media report, the tournament, which marks the start of India’s 2025-26 domestic cricket season, will be held in September and returns to the zonal format.
India and Mumbai all-rounder Shardul Thakur will lead the squad, which features several high-profile names like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shreyas Iyer, Sarfaraz Khan, and Ruturaj Gaikwad. Nagwaswalla and Tushar Deshpande will spearhead the pace attack.
Harvik Desai and Saurabh Nawale have been named as wicketkeepers, while Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, and Dharmendra Jadeja will handle spin duties.
Seven players have been named as standbys, including three more from GCA — Siddharth Desai, Chintan Gaja, and Urvil Patel. Senior players like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara were not considered for the squad.
