The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) has announced that four new air-conditioned double-decker buses will be added to its fleet, costing around ₹2 crore.
This step is meant to improve the city’s public transport system and reduce overcrowding on the current double-decker services. With these new additions, AMTS will have a total of 10 double-decker buses. Right now, six buses run on the busy Sanathal–Vastral route.
According to a media report, AMTS chairman Dharamsinh Desai, the new buses will run on three routes along the SP Ring Road: Sanathal to Vastral, Vastral to Vaishnodevi, and Vaishnodevi to Sanathal. This initiative aims to make travel easier and more accessible for people in these growing areas.
