Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is working to transform key pilgrimage sites, including Ambaji, into centers of spiritual experience. The Ambaji Mata Temple, located in the Aravalli hills, attracts lakhs of devotees, especially during full moon days and the Bhadarvi Poonam fair.
According to a media report, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Patel, a 50-year master plan has been launched for the development of Ambaji in Banaskantha district. With a total budget of ₹1,632 crore, the plan will be implemented in two phases. Phase 1, costing ₹950 crore, will begin soon.
Key highlights include:
- A Shakti Corridor connecting Ambaji Temple, Gabbar Parvat, and Mansarovar
- Expansion of Chachar Chowk, Sati Ghat, and Gabbar Parvat
- New facilities like multi-level parking, Yatri Bhavan, pedestrian underpass, Divya Darshan Plaza, and Gabbar Arrival Plaza with a light-and-sound show
- Mythology-inspired murals, galleries, and festival zones for garba and events
- Improved infrastructure, crowd movement, and spiritual connectivity
The project is being managed by the Gujarat Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board. The development aims to offer pilgrims a richer, safer, and more meaningful experience while preserving spiritual heritage.
