To tackle the growing problem of parents driving on the wrong side near schools, the Ahmedabad City Traffic Police launched an awareness drive across several schools on Monday.
According to a media report, Led by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Safin Hasan, the initiative aims to work closely with school principals and teachers to educate parents about traffic rules and the dangers of wrong-side driving. Traffic police teams visited selected schools during school hours to conduct awareness sessions.
“Our goal is to build awareness, not just enforce rules,” said DCP Safin Hasan. “By involving educators and parents directly, we hope to encourage safer driving habits around schools.”
The campaign was carried out on July 28 at various schools, including Ahmedabad International School (Vastrapur), Kendriya Vidyalaya (Shahibaug), Podar International School (Vastral), Silver Bells School (Bapunagar), D P School (Akhbarnagar), Shree Narayan Guru School, and C N Vidyalay. Area-specific traffic police teams, along with local police inspectors and constables, led the sessions.
The sessions featured interactive Q&A rounds, live demonstrations, and distribution of educational materials to highlight the risks of reckless driving.
The traffic police plan to continue similar awareness programs throughout the academic year in partnership with schools, parent-teacher groups, and local police units.
