Frustrated over the delay in receiving a Letter of Disbursement needed to transfer his home loan to another bank, a Jamnagar man staged a unique protest by settling on the bank’s sofa with a pillow and blanket, turning the wait into a symbolic ‘pillow fight’.
According to a media report, fed up with endless delays and bureaucratic runarounds, a Jamnagar resident decided to take “waiting at the bank” to a whole new level — by quite literally moving in.
Jashabhai Karanjiya set up camp at the IDBI Bank’s Panchvati branch, armed with a blanket, pillow, and even his own water bottle, as a form of protest. The reason?
The bank is dragging its feet in issuing him an LOD (Letter of Disbursement) required to transfer his home loan to SBI. “I had applied on June 29 and since then, I’ve been visiting the bank twice a day, at 12 pm and 5 pm,” he said, with the weary patience of a man who now treats the bank’s waiting area like his second home.
“They keep asking for new documents every time. It’s like a never-ending treasure hunt, minus the treasure.” Fed up, Jashabhai showed up armed with essentials last week and turned one of the sofas in the waiting area into his makeshift bed. “Since there’s a long wait, I brought my own water bottle too. Hydration is key-even for peaceful protest,” he quipped. He claims that while there’s officially a 7-day window to issue the LOD, some banks get it done in a day.
“During my previous loan, I had the LOD in hand the very next day. But here, it’s just delay after delay,” he said. So far, the bank hasn’t thrown him out-or solved his problem. But Jashabhai isn’t budging. “I’ll sleep here until they wake up to my issue,” he added, fluffing his pillow for dramatic effect.
