As the admission process begins for students allotted seats under the first round of RTE, the District Education Officer (DEO) City has issued a circular directing schools not to ask for any original documents beyond those mentioned in the admit card.
The DEO has also warned that strict action will be taken against schools that demand extra documents or delay the admission process.
DEO has also asked schools to complete the admission process by May 8. “If the student is given the admission but the process is not complete, the seat will be deemed vacant and the schools may have to face the situation of having two students in one seat as the Education Department will grant admission on such seats in the second admission round,” the circular read.
On Monday, the Gujarat Education Department announced that 86,274 students have been given Class 1 admission in private schools under the 25% RTE quota. Out of 93,860 total seats in 9,741 schools across the state, 7,586 seats are still vacant after the first round of admissions.
