The city-based Bespoke Art Gallery is hosting an exhibition titled ‘Global Treasures Art Exhibition’, which features masterpieces from the private collection of renowned art collector Devin Gawarvala. Curated by Uma Nair, the exhibit offers art lovers an opportunity to view the works of artists from India and abroad, including countries such as Uzbekistan, Ukraine, UK, Switzerland, and others. With works of artists such as Bakhodir Jalal, Bobur Ismailov, Gillie & Marc, Walera Martynchyk, Timur D’Vatz, Christian Saldert, Jesus Curia and Evelyne Brader-Frank on display, viewers can see a collection that includes striking sculptures and paintings that delve into the depths of human existence.

What a year of photography looks like There is more than one unique aspect to the exhibition ‘Frames of Time – A Year in Creative Photography’, showcasing photographs capturing different moods. The exhibition showcases the works of a set of four friends, all photographers. And among them, one is a married couple; Narbheram and Harshida Dodia, both talented photographers, through their respective works take viewers on a journey of nostalgia and Rajasthan respectively. Meanwhile, their friends Arjanbhai Rasadia and Maunak Chavda have captured the beauty of Dang during monsoon and stories of motion, respectively. This is one exhibition you might not want to miss as it seamlessly ties together the nuanced work of four distinct individuals.

An emotional journey of dreams and struggles
At Arthshila this weekend, movie lovers can watch Dhuin, a Maithili language film that was directed and co-written by Achal Mishra and released in 2022. The story revolves around a young man named Pankaj, who comes from a small town and dreams of finding success as a theatre actor in Mumbai. However, after the lockdown, his family faces serious financial challenges, forcing him to reconsider his dreams and make tough choices. The film features Abhinav Jha in the role of Pankaj and has made its mark on various film festivals. It was showcased at the 75th Cannes Film Festival in 2022, the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2022 (Online), the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala 2022, and was part of MoMA New York’s “Making Waves: A New Generation of Indian Independent Filmmakers” in 2022.

Escape into the mountains
Pahadinama is a unique theatrical production by Bol Collective that combines humour and satire for a fresh look at travel, tourism, and mountain life. The story follows four mountain lovers who are invited to a tourism fair. While waiting for their journey to begin, they share travel stories in a tea shop. Through these tales, the play delves into the beliefs of mountain communities, the essence of exploring the hills, and the differing views. Neha Bahuguna has both written and directed this performance.
