Man Walks Wrong Way On Escalator At Thane Railway Station For 5 Minutes; Bystanders Record Video Of ‘Free Entertainment’ Instead Of Offering Help

A video from Thane railway station is widely being circulated on social media. It shows a passenger walking down the escalator. The visuals show a man taking the wrong way on the escalator or walking in reverse.

It filmed him struggling to step onto the railway platform as he took the escalator which was moving upwards. He walked in the opposite direction of the escalator movement, leaving him stuck on the machine for minutes.

People saw him walking in reverse, but they merely kept watching him. No one bothered to help him out.

A Reddit user who was present at the station recorded the incident on camera and uploaded it online. In his post, he mentioned that the man took at least five minutes to escape the escalator.

Saw this guy at Thane station. It took him 5 min to come down the escalator from the moment I started recording. I wonder how long he had been trying before that”, he captioned the post.

However, this online user too, like other passengers, didn’t assist the man. He only engaged in filming the man who was struggling to walk down and reach the railway platform.

Throwing light on the video, it opened to show a man, in a blue shirt, standing in front of the escalator and witnessing the person struggling on the machine. He simply watched it as a free source of entertainment. Meanwhile, a woman, who passed by, looked at the person and giggled.

It was unclear whether the man was accidentally stuck on the escalator or was pulling a prank. Regardless of that, his act amused people and made him go viral.

As train announcements echoed in the background and regular commuters carried on with their routines, the man persisted in his struggle, determinedly walking against the escalator’s motion. It was learned he managed to succeed and step onto the platform after minutes.

The video has gone viral on Reddit and already received over 8,000 upvotes and 800 comments. The unusual incident has sparked a wave of reactions online, with some users jokingly referring it as a dedicated fitness challenge.

“Reverse cardio??”, one commented. “Uncle ka 10000 steps ka goal office jaane ke pehle hi achieve ho jayega (Uncle’s goal of 10,000 steps will be achieved before going to office)”, another quipped.
