Aamir Khan and Salman Khan’s cult classic ‘Andaz Apna Apna’ is set to return to theatres, joining the list of iconic films getting a re-release. The 1994 comedy, written and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, will hit the big screens again in April.
Film critic Taran Adarsh shared the film’s poster featuring Aamir, Salman, Karisma Kapoor, and Raveena Tandon while announcing the exciting news. The teaser will be released on February 13, and the theatrical re-run comes 31 years after the film’s original release.
‘Andaz Apna Apna’, released in 1994, was directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Vinay Kumar Sinha. Though the film did not perform well at the box office initially, it has since gained cult status and remains one of Bollywood’s most beloved comedies.
Earlier, in an interview with Doordarshan, Santoshi revealed his plans for a new comedy similar to Andaz Apna Apna. “I am writing a comedy in Andaz Apna Apna’s style. This is the kind of experiment that you have to do, you don’t always know how it will turn out but I can assure that it will be entertaining,” Santoshi said. He added that the working title of the new film is Adaa Apni Apni. When asked if it would be a sequel to Andaz Apna Apna, he replied, “Too early to say. Let’s see.”
Andaz Apna Apna also starred Paresh Rawal (in a dual role), and Shakti Kapoor in pivotal roles.
