A massive broke out in Sector 22 area of Maha Kumbh area in Prayagraj district on Thursday afternoon.
There are no reports of injuries or casualties as of now. Fire brigade personnel have reached the spot and have doused the fire.
Senior officials have reached the spot and are assessing the situation. Reports suggest that people were not in the tent area when the fire took place.
No reports of injuries
Similarly on January 19, a massive fire erupted at the Maha Kumbh venue when two cylinders exploded inside a tent. The massive fire had engulfed at least 100 tents. Fortunately, there were no casualties during that incident.
During the Jan 19 fire, the blaze was brought under control as fire tenders were already stationed at the Mela ground.
‘An information regarding the fire in the
tents was received at Chatnag Ghat Police Station area on Thursday. We took immediate action and rushed fire tenders and brought the fire under control. The fire broke out at an unauthorised tent that was erected at the site. As of now, the is under control. There was no injuries of casualty in the incident,’ said Pramod Sharma, an official from UP Fire Department.
Maha Kumbh stampede tragedy
On Wednesday morning, tragedy struck the Maha Kumbh ground when at least 30 devotees were killed and another 60 were injured following the stampede during Manui Amawasiya snan. The UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a judicial inquiry into the incident and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 25 lakh each to the kin of the victims.
