Streamlined process will enhance passenger convenience and reduce long queues
Ahmedabad Airport will introduce the Fast Track Immigration (FTI) program to speed up immigration processes, saving time for passengers during arrivals and departures.
The programme will cater to Indian citizens and OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) cardholders, allow- ing them to register for a seamless immigration experience. According to sources at Ahmedabad Airport, the programme will be inaugurated by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 16 January. Initially, this service will be free for eligible passengers.
FII-TTP (Fast Track Immigration- Trusted Traveller Programme) will be implemented at seven airports- Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Cochin during its first phase. The initiative is expected to expand to 21 airports across the country in subsequent phases.
How It Works
The FTI-TTP programme operates through an online portal: https:// ftittp.mha.gov.in. Travellers need to register by providing their details and uploading the required documents. Biometric data will be captured either at the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or during airport transit.
At the airport, registered passengers will scan their airline-issued boarding passes and passports at e-gates. The system will verify their biometrics at both departure and arrival points. Once authenticated, the e-gates will open automatically, granting immigration clearance without the need to stand in lengthy queues.
