228 samples of food items including 6 sweets, 26 pani puri, 8 cheese, 8 butter, 19 bakery products, 9 spices, 16 edible oil have been taken by the AMC(Amdavad Municipal Corporation)’s food department.
Among the food samples taken earlier by the food department, five samples have been declared unfit. Jam of Gulshan Griha Udyog in Makarba, Butter of Madhuli Enterprise in Vastral, paneer of Rajasthan Bhojnalaya in GSRTC bus stand at Gita Mandir, butter of Ashapura Bhojnalaya near Rajasthan Hospital in Shahibaug and butter of Puja Bhajipaun near Nirant Char Rasta in Vastral have been declared substandard.
This shows that people who eat butter and cheese served in food and beverage establishments including hotels, restaurants in different areas of the city have to be careful.
Food samples are taken from hotels, restaurants by the Food department of AMC on daily basis.
377 units were given notice by the AMC food department and 673 kg and 622 liters of unhealthy food items have been destroyed and 457 cases of TPC have been reported.
