On Day 2 of conclave, participating vice chancellors take the onus to spread awareness about NEP beyond the urban centres
The second day of the Vice Chancellor’s Conclave at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) saw participating VCs taking up the responsibility to spread awareness about National Education Policy (NEP)- 2020 in the semi-rural and rural areas. VCs from technical education universities from across India brainstormed on Friday over the idea to help implement the NΝΕΡ-2020.
Atul Kothari, from Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas, told the media that even after four years of implementation of NEP, there are points that are still not understood or explained to the beneficiaries particularly students from smaller towns and villages. “We discussed that VCs of technical universities should take the onus of spreading awareness in areas of their jurisdiction,” he said.
He said it is a known fact that 60% of students who pass out from colleges are not employable. “It is time we focused on skills-based courses after identifying local industries and a student’s family skill set in addition to several other things,” he said.
