The District Education Officer (DEO) has issued a showcause notice to Gyanoday Hindi Secondary and Higher Secondary School for multiple irregularities. The school, initially located in Jamalpur, was relocated to Vastral for two years following an inspection that revealed its original building was structurally unsafe. Despite an agreement to return to Jamalpur in 2020, the school continued to operate from Vastral, violating the order of the Education Board.
The DEO’s inspection also revealed that the school has been conducting classes for Grade 11 without required authorisation. “Further concerns were raised regarding the issuance of private textbooks and the imposition of additional fees beyond those prescribed fees by the authorities. The school also lacks safety certifications, including a fire NOC and Building Use (BU) permission, posing a risk to student safety,” said a source. Ahmedabad City DEO Rohit Chaudhari has granted the school five days to provide a detailed explana- tion regarding these irregularities.
