The Ahmedabad airport was assigned the task of accommodating fifteen more flights than usual after heavy rainfall in Mumbai led to the cancellation, diversion and delay of numerous flights.
Due to the poor weather, flights could not land in Mumbai, therefore numerous flights were diverted. This was probably the first time that so many flights had to be diverted in a single day. While majority flights were redirected to Pune and Surat, some of them were rerouted to Ahmedabad airport on Sunday.
The Ahmedabad airport operates around 250 flights regularly. Due to the diversion, the city airport was assigned the task of managing fifteen more flights that were rerouted from Mumbai. Despite the sudden influx, the operation was completed without any difficulty by the Ahmedabad airport team.
