NEET topper allegedly fails Class 12 Physics, Chemistry exams. Marksheet goes viral

A student’s marksheet has gone viral on social media platform X, sparking controversy over the NEET UG 2024 results. The post claims the student scored 705 out of 720 in NEET but failed in the Class 12 Physics and Chemistry exams. According to the marksheet in the viral post, the student obtained 21 out of 100 in Physics theory and 36 out of 50 in practicals. In Chemistry, the scores were 31 out of 100 in theory and 33 out of 50 in practicals. Despite these low marks in Class 12, the same student secured a 99.861 percentile in NEET UG Chemistry and a 99.8903 percentile in Physics. This discrepancy in marks has raised serious questions about the authenticity of the student’s NEET UG scores. However, ET has not independently verified the authenticity of the marksheet image.

NTA Announces Re-test for Grace Marks Holders
Amid concerns about marking in NEET exam, the NTA has announced a re-test on June 23 for 1,563 NEET UG candidates who received grace marks due to issues such as the wrong question paper distribution, torn OMR sheets, or delays in OMR sheet distribution. Results of this re-test will be declared on June 30.

The decision for a re-test followed the Supreme Court’s observations on the NTA’s High Powered Committee report. Consequently, the scorecards of the 1,563 candidates, who were given grace marks, will be scrapped. This decision comes amidst allegations of irregularities and unfair marking in the national medical entrance exams.

NEET Counselling Schedule
Counselling for admissions into MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses will begin on July 6. Approximately 24 lakh aspirants took the NEET-UG 2024, conducted by the NTA on May 5. The results, initially scheduled for June 14, were announced early on June 4 due to expedited answer sheet evaluations.
