Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey, who is riding high on the success of his last film 12th Fail, found himself embroiled in a heated altercation with a cab driver over the fare. The incident, captured on video by the driver and subsequently shared on social media, has sparked widespread speculation about its authenticity, with many questioning whether it’s a genuine incident or a promotional stunt.
In the video, Vikrant is seen disputing the cab fare, which he claims is higher than what was initially displayed on the app. However, the driver argued that the app itself increased the fare, absolving him of any wrongdoing. He accuses Vikrant of verbal abuse, stating, “My name is Ashish. I am a cab driver. I have dropped my passenger at his location but he is not giving me money and he is abusing me verbally.”
He turned the camera towards Vikrant. The actor tried to hide it with his hand and says, “Why have you taken out the camera? Are you threatening me? I am justified here. How has the amount increased on the app? This will not work.” The cab driver further argues, “How is this my fault? You earn so much money. Why are you arguing?” Vikrant responds, “It doesn’t matter whose money it is. It is hard earned money.”
While the video initially appears genuine, fans have speculated that it might be a promotional ploy rather than a real-life incident. Doubts have been raised, particularly due to the staged-looking backdrop behind Vikrant. A fan wrote, “Movie promotion ka tareeka thoda cazual hai.” Another fan wrote, “Script acchi hai.” One more fan wrote, “Yeah this seems like some publicity gimmick for his upcoming series/film. And where did he get violent, that’s not visible..” One more fan wrote, “One min silence for those who think it’s real😂.”
Many actors have tried publicity stunts in the past that didn’t go down well with their audience. For instance, Kajol was slammed in 2023 when she deleted all her social media posts and announced that she was ‘facing one of the toughest trials’ of her life – only for it to be revealed as a promotional gimmick for her show, The Trial. Recently, Poonam Pandey faced severe backlash for faking her death.
Coming to Vikrant Massey, the actor is awaiting the release of the sequel to Haseen Dilruba titled Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba. He also has The Sabarmati Report, a film based on the 2002 burning of the Sabarmati Express, in the pipeline.
