Although Ramayana is currently trailing Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar 2 by a considerable margin in advance ticket sales across India, the gap could narrow as the film’s release approaches. The Ranbir Kapoor and Yash-starrer is expected to register a strong opening, potentially outperforming the initial collections of Animal and Toxic. However, the makers are reportedly eyeing a much bigger milestone: securing the biggest-ever opening for a Hindi film by surpassing the records of Dhurandhar 2 and Pushpa 2.
Current advance booking trends indicate that Ramayana could open with approximately Rs 65 crore at the domestic box office. Such a debut would be significant, particularly given its release during the pre-Diwali period. However, the film will need a substantial acceleration in ticket sales over the next three days for this projection to become more certain. The movie is also expected to cross 5 lakh advance bookings across national multiplex chains, potentially placing it among the top five films in terms of pre-release sales.
The expansion of screenings across non-national cinema chains from Friday is expected to provide a clearer picture of the film’s box office prospects. As additional shows become available, advance bookings could gather pace and influence the opening-day estimates. The pre-Diwali release window is also likely to play a role in determining audience turnout and the film’s eventual opening figures.
