In a shocking turn of events, a local builder in Ahmedabad, Upendrasinh Chavda, allegedly fired his licensed revolver during a confrontation with a group of around 10 people late Mar 27 night in the city’s Bopal area.
According to Bopal police officials, the incident unfolded near Marigold Circle when Chavda, originally from Dhandhuka, was intercepted by the group wielding rods and pipes.
The situation reportedly turned violent, with Chavda’s car sustaining damage during the attack. Fearing for his safety, Chavda claims to have pulled out his weapon and fired two rounds in self-defence.
Sources hint at a long-standing animosity between the two parties that exploded into this brawl. Chavda reportedly also identified the attackers as people from his hometown.
Bopal police have reportedly nabbed Chavda and one Anilsinh Parmar in connection with the incident, and launched a thorough probe.
Other accused booked in this case are reported to be absconding.
