The Gujarat circle of India Post has unveiled a new service that will allow individuals to utilize postal department services to send their excess baggage from the city airport to domestic destinations. this service is expected to commence by the end of this year.
In an effort to streamline parcel deliveries, a recently inaugurated Airport Mail Transmission Office at Ahmedabad Airport will facilitate the transit of parcels arriving from various locations to their intended recipients, all for a standardized fee.
On October 9th, World Post Day is observed, commemorating the establishment of the Universal Postal Union in 1874. India, boasting the world’s largest postal network. India post is going to establish an additional 5,000 post offices across the country. Out of these 5,000, 43 will be established in Gujarat, ensuring that post offices are available within a 5-kilometer radius.
Niraj Kumar, Postmaster General for the Gujarat circle, has also announced the introduction of 24×7 parcel booking counters at the National Speed Post Center in Ahmedabad and railway mail offices in Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot, as well as extended booking hours until 8 pm at several major post offices. Furthermore, there are plans to expand mobile parcel pickup routes.
Additionally, it was announced that 7,632 rural post offices in the state are now equipped with a digital banking platform.
