AMC resumes issuing of challans for spitting, and has already sent data of over 257 incidents to the city police for challans to be issued
The next time you spit on the road, a challan may come looking for you at home.
The offenders are monitored via the AMC’s Command and Control Centre which keeps track of footage captured by a large number of cameras installed across the city.
The data of offenders is captured and sent to the police department, which tracks them via their vehicle numbers and issues the challans.
An AMC source said the initiative had found support from citizens as it encouraged behavioural change. “It was found that people became aware once they realised they were being tracked. It was always recommended that the initiative should be restarted,” said the source.
