The Jammu and Kashmir Police arrested 11 visitors from Gujarat and a local guide on Thursday at the popular ski resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district with bogus and modified Gondola tickets. According to the reports, the visitors from Gujarat, together with a guide, arrived to board the Gondola from Kongdori to Gulmarg when they were caught with false tickets.
The official stated that they had arrived in Kongdori riding horses and had come to return on fraudulent and modified tickets. “To avoid causing inconvenience to tourists, they were transported to Gulmarg via Gondola for investigation.” “After our officers Showkat Ahmad Bhat (in charge of Project) and Pervaiz Ahmad Qureshi (in charge of Ticketing) completed the formalities, the case was handed over to in-charge SHO Gulmarg Shakeel Ahmad Beigh,” he said.
He went on to say that the SHO started an inquiry and arrested the accused. The Gulmarg Gondola administration has asked the general public, particularly tourists, not to fall victim to touts who sell false tickets.
