The woman claimed that she had faced similar harassment and that her first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage. She also claimed that when she becomes pregnant for the second time, her in-laws force her to abort and consent to the divorce.

Surbhi Ugrajia married Krunal in December 2021, and the couple moved to Ghatkopar in Mumbai, where he now lives with his family.

The woman told police she was tortured because her husband was having an affair with his elder brother’s wife. According to the complaint, Krunal used to stay in his sister-in-law’s room till late night.

The woman also claimed that her in-laws once assaulted her parents with footwear.

The woman is in her fourth month of pregnancy, has accused her husband’s family of pressuring her to have an abortion and consent to the divorce.

The police have filed a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code for criminal intimidation, harassing women, intentionally insulting them and causing them harm voluntarily.
