A 38-year-old woman out for a walk was hit by a Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) bus in Ahmedabad on Thursday morning.
According to the FIR filed with the G Traffic police station, Prachi Ramchandani, a resident of the Sardarnagar area, went for a walk around 7 a.m. and her husband received a call around 7.30 a.m. that she had been in an accident in the Naroda Patiya area. When her husband arrived, he discovered Prachi dead and injured. Passers-by in the area informed him that a reversing BRTS bus ran over her and she died on the spot.
The bus driver has been booked under IPC sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 304 A (causing death by negligence) and Motor Vehicle Act sections 177 (general provision for punishment of offences), 184 (driving dangerously) and 134 (b) (duty of driver in case of accident and injury to a person).
