Gujarat will be the first state in the country to have mobile inspection vans for quality checks of national highways. Every quarter, 2000 km of highways will be inspected in each state using these mobile vans.
This agreement was signed on Wednesday. Test results and non-conformity alerts generated by these MIVs will be shared in real time with various stakeholders through a Quality Control Portal being developed by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH).
For a pilot project, the ministry has hired mobile inspection vans (MIVs) to conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) to inspect the quality of the nation’s highways.
This is a part of the ministry’s commitment to constructing National Highways to the highest standards possible.
Besides Gujarat, states of Rajasthan, Odisha and Karnataka will also have the facility.
