India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted “heavy to very heavy rain” on Friday at several places across Gujarat, mainly south and Saurashtra.
Red alert has been sounded in eight districts in wake of extremely heavy rain forecast.
“The monsoon may get vigorous over Saurashtra and Kutch. This may result in extremely heavy rain at some places of Amreli, Bhavnagar, Junagadh and Gir Somnath districts on Friday,” said Manorama Mohanty, director, IMD Gujarat.
He also said the national highway towards Mumbai and at two places in Dang and Kutch have been closed. “NDRF teams are working well to rescue people who are stuck in Navsari and Valsad districts,” said Trivedi.
Meanwhile, the water level in the rivers located in Navsari district has been going down continuously.
