India recorded 17,070 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 4,34,69,234, according to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Friday.
According to data updated by the ministry at 8 am, the death toll increased to 5,25,139 with 23 new fatalities.
An increase of 2,634 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 case count in a span of 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 1,07,189.
A total of 14,413 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, which brings the total recoveries to 4,28,36,906 across the country. India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.55 per cent.
Meanwhile, the top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 4,083 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,640 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,069 cases, West Bengal with 1,524 cases and Karnataka with 1,046 cases.
These five states accounted for 72.42 per cent of the new cases, with Kerala alone responsible for 23.92 per cent of the new cases.
India has administered a total of 11,67,503 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 1,97,74,71,041.
A total of 5,02,150 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
