The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a heatwave spell over northwest, central and western India over the next four to five days.
Heatwave conditions are expected to persist in several districts of north Gujarat and Saurashtra over the next two days, according to the forecast.
Areas including Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Patan, Mehsana, Rajkot, Amreli, Porbandar, Surendranagar and Kutch would experience heatwave on Monday and Tuesday, added the forecast.
The maximum temperature in Ahmedabad reached 41.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday, the fifth highest maximum temperature in Gujarat, as the heatwave intensified across the state.
The maximum temperature was 3.7 degrees Celsius higher than normal, but the minimum temperature was 1.5 degrees higher at 22.9 degrees Celsius.
