An 18-year-old in the Maninagar area of Ahmedabad received a message informing him that he had received his second dose of vaccination, despite the fact that he had yet to be administered the dosage.
The youth had received his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine a month before and was due for his second dose. When the youth’s father approached the health department, they promised to look into the matter.
Meanwhile, the adolescent received his second shot on Tuesday. Nayan Jani, an immunisation officer, stated that he has not come across any such cases.
There have been many cases in the past where people have received messages stating that they have been vaccinated when actually they have not been administered the dose.
A similar incident occurred a few days ago in Bengaluru when the family of a man who died eight months ago received a phone call and SMS informing them that he has had been successfully vaccinated. The man identified as Raghvendra Rao died of COVID complication in May, last year.
The family was taken aback by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) lack of interest in checking or updating their records. Rao was supposed to be dead, according to the family. When the staff at the vaccination centre was contacted, they blamed the blunder on a technical error on the part of the data entry operator. The staff also stated that they can only update the status on the portal and that they are unable to do anything else.
A senior official then assured that they will look into the matter
