Gujarat recorded 11,176 fresh cases of Covid-19 in 24 ending Thursday evening, according to the Covid bulletin by the state health department.
Five deaths were reported during this time.
The previous day’s case tally was 9,941, while the death toll was four.
With the addition of the new cases, the active caseload of Covid in the state has crossed the mark of 50,000 and has reached 50,612.
Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara and Rajkot cities together accounted for 69.3 per cent of the total cases recorded in Gujarat during the day.
Among these cities, Ahmedabad had 3,673 cases, Surat 2670, Vadodara 940 and Rajkot 440.
Elsewhere, Valsad recorded 337, Gandhinagar city 319, Bharuch 308, Surat rural 243, Bhavnagar city 198, Jamnagar city 170 and Navsari 155.
One death each has been reported from Ahmedabad, Surat, Valsad, Rajkot and Bhavnagar.
A total of 3,11,217 doses of Covid-19 vaccine were administered across Gujarat on Thursday. The cumulative vaccination figure has crossed 9.44 crore.
At a press conference, state health minister Rushikesh Patel said that 98 per cent of the eligible population over the age of 18 in Gujarat has received the first dose of Covid vaccine, while 94.5 per cent has got both the doses.
Additionally, 57 per cent of the eligible population between the age of 15 and 18 has received the first dose of the vaccine. He also said that the administration is ready to meet any situation.
