Ahmedabad: Covid-19 cases in Ahmedabad surged to the highest in nearly four-and-a-half months on Tuesday even as cases were just slightly higher in the whole state, health department data showed.
Ahmedabad city reported 18 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday, which was the highest since July 4, when 19 cases were reported. The city had reported 15 cases on Monday, 11 on Sunday, 10 on Saturday, two on Friday, and 14 a day earlier, as per health department data. Cases have been on the rise since the Diwali festival.
The Covid-19 cases in the state rose to 35 today, up from 29 yesterday and 26 the previous day. Rajkot and Vadodara cities reported four cases each, and Surat city three cases. Two cases were reported in Ahmedabad rural and Valsad, and one case in Kutch and Navsari. No cases were reported in the other districts.
The number of active cases in the state rose to 253, of whom three patients are on ventilator and 250 are stable. More than 8.16 lakh patients have recovered from the infection, while the pandemic’s cumulative death toll is 10,090.
The health department said in its daily bulletin more than 5.05 lakh vaccines were administered today, taking the number of doses administered in the state to 7.53 crore.
