The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, and the Shree Somnath Trust have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore design-led initiatives aimed at enhancing the cultural heritage and visitor experience at Prabhas Patan, home to the Somnath Temple.
Under the collaboration, NID Ahmedabad will draw on its expertise across various design disciplines to develop interactive exhibits, architectural installations, signage, wayfinding systems and immersive spatial experiences.
The partnership will also explore research and documentation of the region’s traditional arts, crafts, textile traditions, architecture and intangible cultural heritage.
The initiative aims to strengthen public engagement, improve the overall visitor experience and enhance the temple’s institutional identity while preserving and showcasing the region’s historical and cultural significance.
NID Ahmedabad has previously designed a prasad box for the Somnath Temple.
