The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started the process of widening the road from Sarangpur Circle to the DCP Zone-3 office from 18 metres to 30 metres to improve traffic movement around Kalupur Railway Station. Around 17 properties are likely to be affected, with approximately 2,965 square metres of land proposed to be added to the road.
The civic body has issued a public notice under Section 210 of the Gujarat Provincial Municipal Corporations Act, marking the proposed road line. The notice invites objections and suggestions from the public before further action is taken.
Road Widening Planned Ahead of Station Redevelopment
The Railway Land Development Authority (RLDA) is redeveloping Kalupur Railway Station with modern facilities. After redevelopment, the station is expected to handle around 3.12 lakh passengers daily.
Considering the anticipated increase in passenger traffic, the AMC plans to widen nearby roads to improve access to the station and ease vehicle movement for passengers arriving at and departing from the railway station.
17 Properties Likely to Be Affected
The proposed widening from Sarangpur Circle to the DCP Zone-3 office will increase the road’s width from 18 metres to 30 metres. Legal procedures will be initiated for approximately 17 properties falling within the proposed road line.
The project aims to increase the road’s traffic capacity and reduce congestion around the railway station.
AMC Invites Public Objections
The AMC has invited objections and suggestions through a public notice issued under Section 210 of the GPMC Act. Further action on the proposed road widening will be taken after the process is completed.
Shops Near Rosy Cinema May Also Be Vacated
Separately, the AMC has initiated the process of reclaiming shops located along the road between Sarangpur Circle and Rosy Cinema. These shops were allotted by the corporation on a rental or permit basis.
Notices have been issued to the concerned shopkeepers, asking them to vacate the premises and hand them back to the civic body.
