The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has announced a significant update for its bus passengers. Starting now, travelers can use the SMS ticket received on their mobile phones instead of the traditional paper tickets when booking at GSRTC counters.
This new system aims to simplify the travel experience. When passengers book their tickets at a counter, they’ll receive an SMS with all their ticket details sent directly to their registered mobile number.
During the journey, it’s as simple as showing that SMS to the conductor when asked. No need to worry about losing or damaging a small paper ticket along the way.
How It Works
The procedure is straightforward. Upon completing a booking, GSRTC links the passenger’s mobile number to that transaction, ensuring that ticket information is easily accessible via text message. This change mirrors practices already in place within railway systems where digital proof of purchase is commonplace.
ID Proof Still Required
However, it’s crucial to note that this convenience doesn’t replace the need for identification. Passengers must still carry an original government-issued ID—like an Aadhaar card or driving license—for verification alongside their digital ticket during inspections.
- This ensures quick and efficient travel without compromising security.
The introduction of this SMS-based system represents another step towards digitizing services offered by GSRTC, reducing hassles associated with keeping track of physical tickets on longer journeys.
