For more than a decade, October 2 has meant more than just a date for fans of the Drishyam franchise. It became part of Vijay Salgaonkar’s elaborate game of deception, turning an ordinary calendar day into one of Bollywood’s most recognisable pop-culture references. Now, with Drishyam: The Conclusion, director Abhishek Pathak attempts to bring the Hindi franchise to its final chapter.
The story picks up with the Sameer Deshmukh case refusing to stay buried. Meera Deshmukh, played by Tabu, continues to struggle with the loss of her son, while a fresh investigation led by Crime Branch officer Rajveer Singh Tomar, played by Jaideep Ahlawat, puts Vijay Salgaonkar and his family under renewed pressure. This time, the police appear determined to uncover the truth behind the carefully constructed story that protected Vijay for years.
The film’s biggest strength remains its central cat-and-mouse battle. Ajay Devgn once again keeps Vijay restrained and calculating, while Jaideep Ahlawat brings authority and intensity to the new investigator. The screenplay keeps the twists coming and delivers the answers long-time viewers have been waiting for, although some of the explanations feel convenient and a few plot developments leave noticeable gaps. The film also spends less time on Vijay’s family life than the earlier instalments, shifting its focus more firmly towards the investigation and thriller elements.
