A Barbeque Nation outlet in Surat’s Parle Point area has come under scrutiny after customers allegedly found rotten potatoes and foul-smelling mushrooms at the restaurant.
A video of the incident was later circulated on social media.The video purportedly shows customers displaying blackened potatoes and mushrooms, which they alleged were stale and had a foul smell. One customer can be heard questioning the quality and safety of the food and claiming that the restaurant management did not provide a satisfactory response.
The incident has sparked discussions on social media over food safety and hygiene standards at restaurants. The video also appears to show some customers leaving their meals after allegedly finding the stale food items.
The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) Food Department said it would inspect the premises and take action if any irregularities were found.Food Department official Bhavesh Brahmbhatt said no official complaint had been received from a customer so far. However, after being informed about the incident, a team would conduct an on-site inspection.“If any lapses or irregularities are found, strict legal action will be taken,” Brahmbhatt said.
