A controversy erupted at Nirma University after an alleged confrontation between a student and a professor during a stand-up comedy event, with the NSUI demanding an apology from the faculty member.
According to reports and a video circulating on social media, the incident occurred while Professor H K Patel was addressing a gathering during an event featuring a stand-up comedian.
The episode reportedly began after a student called out, “Jaldi kar, Panvel nikalna hai,” a dialogue associated with a Bollywood film.
The student was subsequently called onto the stage, where Patel allegedly grabbed him by the collar. In the video circulating online, Patel is heard saying, “I can go to any extent,” while warning the student against insulting faculty members.
The incident has since sparked a debate on social media, with users discussing both the student’s remark and the professor’s response.
NSUI State Vice-President Vedant Singh Tomar has demanded an apology from Patel over the incident.
